Description: Fundamental concepts of modern chemistry, with emphasis on theoretical and physical principles; atomic and molecular structure and quantum theory; chemical bonding properties go gases, liquids and solids; solutions; structure and bonding in organic molecules, organometallic complexes, and solids; thermochemistry. Grading: Regular grades are awarded for this course: A B C D E. Prerequisite(s): or Concurrent registration, MATH 124 or students who have had high school chemistry and physics and received acceptable scores on the ACT tests. Credit is allowed for only one of these lecture/lab combinations: CHEM 101A-102A, or 103A-104A, or 105A-106A. Usually offered: Fall.
