3 credits The course provides the opportunity for students to assimi late and interpret quantitative data and explores the fol-lowing: linear and quadratic equation, complex numbers, exponential and logarithmic functions, inequalities and lin-ear programming, and trigonometric functions. There is an emphasis on enabling students to recognize the pertinence of the subject in other disciplines and applications. Students will need a graphing calculator (Texas Instruments: TI-82,83, 85) for this class. Prerequisite(s): Appropriate performance on the placement test in mathematics or a passing grade in assigned remedial course(s), or departmental permission.
